Darlene Swann of Mt. Olive, Alabama passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the age of 87. This beautiful Lady was a devoted Christian, a mighty prayer warrior, a precious mother, a loving grandmother, and a DOTING great-grandmother. She was all of the things that any family would want, need, desire or hope for in a matriarch. She had the uncanny ability to connect with others and adopt them into her family. She could tell you the funniest story of her time growing up, while simultaneously baking you your favorite homemade pie. She spoke "unconditional love" like a native language and she lived every word of scripture every day of her life. We lost a great woman on September 20, 2025. We all did - whether you knew her or not. There is one thing, and only one thing, that she loved more than her family and that was the Lord Jesus. So, while we must be without her for a time, we know and live by the hope and promise that this is only goodbye for now. MawMaw, we know you have already heard these words from the One you always longed to hear them. "Well done my good and faithful servant!" We love you and we long for the day we will see you again.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Clayton Swann; son, Dietrich Clayton Swann; parents, Young Felix Harris and Gussie Haynes Harris Lake; and siblings, Lester Coy Harris (Agnes), Austin Henry Harris (Orene), Bulah Mae Harris Connell (Pinky), Dewitt Harris, Susie Elena Harris Kinney (Gabriel), Lila Belle Harris Foust (Joe), Charles James "Jim" Harris (Sharon), and Lillie Grace Harris Jackson (Allen).

She is survived by her children, Donita Pickering (Rickie Don) and Chuck Swann (Tracy); son-in-law, James Newman; grandchildren, Aaron Newman (Crista), Lindsey Smith (Bobby), Luke Newman (Katie), and Christie Crow (Ben); great-grandchildren, Copeland Newman, Gracie Newman, Cameron Lebron, Maleah Hunt, Mason Hunt, Ava May Newman, Sarah Newman, Roy Crow and Shelby Crow; and her brother, Carl Harris (Barbara).

The visitation and funeral service for Mrs. Swann will be held at Messmer Goodwin Funeral Home in Warrior, Ala. on Saturday, September 27. The family will receive guests in the funeral home's chapel from 1:15 p.m. until the funeral service's commencement at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Please travel of your own accord to the cemetery instead of following the hearse, as we will not be traveling in a formal procession. Everyone will reconvene graveside for a brief committal service before interment.
