David Aspen, age 70, of Fosston, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 23rd, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6th, at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Peter Lurvey officiating. Interment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Fosston. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, September 5th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. Family will also greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. David was a loving father who was always known to live life to the fullest. In his younger years he was an amateur boxer along with his brothers. He left school and traveled working on the railroad making his way to Alaska where he worked on fishing boats. Later in life he made his way to Wisconsin where he had a comic bookstore. “He always had a passion for collecting all types of things.” He had 3 children Lisa, Adam and Amy. No matter what, he always made sure to let them know how much he loved them. Later he relocated back to Fosston, MN with his family. Where remained for a few years till he moved to Bemidji, MN working for the high school before becoming disabled. Later he relocated back to Fosston where he had lived since. He continued his passion for collecting, trips to the casino, working on his art, listening to music while playing the spoons and spending time with family. David was a one-of-a-kind soul who will be deeply missed by all who came to know and love him.
David Lorentz Aspen was born to Edith Victoria Peterson/Sherer and Lorentz Goodwin Aspen on September 26th, 1954.
David is preceded in death by his Mother-Edith Peterson/Sherer, Father- Lorentz Aspen, Daughter- Lisa Aspen, Brother-John Sherer, Sister-Anita Klinke, Sister-Diane Kappedal, Sister-Elouise Olson.
He is survived by (Children-Adam Aspen of Thief River Falls and Amy Aspen of Fosston, MN brothers and sisters- Janet Klinke of Fosston, MN, Juliann Klinke of Thief River Falls, MN, Linda/Carol Melbo of Fosston, MN, Jodi Sherer of Henning, MN, Jere Sherer of Mcintosh, MN, Jay Sherer of Fosston, MN, Joy Sherer of Winger, MN, Julaina/ Jeremy Seglem of Wannaska, MN Also Survived by Grandchildren Destiny Simonson/Asher Daniels, Eian Simonson, Mackenzie Aspen and AubreyAhna Aspen. Great-Grandchildren, Rory Daniels and is also survived by many other friends and family.
Pallbearers will be Adam Aspen, Joel Klinke
Memorials may be given to Adam or Amy.
