David J. Boppel Sr.
David J. Boppel Sr., 75, of Ashland passed away Monday morning May 19th at home.
Born on September 15, 1949 he was the son of Maryellen (Leibig) and John Boppel.
David graduated from North Schuylkill High School. After high school he enlisted in the Army and served during Vietnam in the 173rd Airborne. Later he joined the Air Force National Guard for 26 years before retiring Master Sargent. He was a recipient of Bronze Star and many more service medals. After serving he attended electronics school where he learned TV repair.
Dave also worked for many years for Penn Dot then owned and operated Dave Boppel TV Repair.
He was a member of Zion's Reformed UCC in Ashland.
David was the husband of the late Joanne M. Boppel who passed in 1999.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 434-Ashland, American Legion Post 910-Lickdale, AMVETS Post 293-Lebanon, VFW Post 7654-Ashland, Lithuanian Club-Mount Carmel.
David is survived by; brother John Boppel, Fountain Springs; son David Boppel Jr., Ashland; daughter Amy Lynn Boppel, Allenwood; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday May 30th at Zion's Reformed UCC, 2400 Centre St, Ashland PA 17921. A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday May 30th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM prior to services at the church. Interment with full military honors will follow services at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
