David Charles “Dave” Edmonds, age 85, of Muir, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at home with his family under hospice care. Dave was born on November 6, 1939, in Carson City, Michigan, the son of Ernest Glen and Blanche Luelle (Loudenbeck) Edmonds, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Lyons High School and worked for 40 years at Wohlert Corporation in Lansing retiring as Maintenance Supervisor. Dave married Joan Carol Wright at their home in Muir on February 14, 2003. His full-time job did not keep him from pursuing his entrepreneurial passions as he started, built and operated several businesses including a self-storage facility, car wash, bar/restaurant and carpet cleaning business, among others. He also had several hobbies, most of which included engines, speed and fun, including snowmobiling, four wheeling, his Harley Davidson motorcycle, his Corvette, other sports cars and his boat(s). He invested the time and expense to achieve one of his life goals and earned his pilot’s license as well. He loved taking trips to someplace up north or elsewhere to use his many toys and get closer to nature and enjoy time with family and friends. He was a great destination traveler as well, loading up the family to visit Mammoth Caves in Kentucky or some other tourist hot spot, and made yearly expeditions to Cedar Point with the whole family. Dave frequently visited the family cottage in Roscommon and he and Joan enjoyed wintering in Arizona for many years. Dave also knew the importance of showing the next generation the ropes and spent a lot of time sharing his “wisdom” with his daughters and grandsons and showing them how to fix and maintain things He attended First Christian Church in Muir for many years and was a member of the DeWitt VFW Auxiliary and the Lansing, Dewitt, and Ionia Moose Lodges.
Dave will be missed and remembered by his dear wife, Joan, his daughters, Keli Deone Edmonds of Crystal and Sheli Marie Davis of Muir; grandsons, Zachary David (Katy) Gilliland, Jacob Scott (Brittanie) Davis, Blake Scott (Macy) Edmonds and Devon Dean Davis; great grandchildren Gage Gabriel, Tate Kasen, Brody Diesel, and Briggs David; step-children Jon (Lele) Bassett of Pensacola, Florida, Jeff Bassett of St. Johns and Jason Bassett of Big Pine Key, Florida; step grandchildren Heidi (Joe), Joey (Elizabeth), J.J. (Lexi), and Sam; and several nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Melvin.
