David Lee Franklin, 70, of Dallas, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025. He was born on December 6, 1954, the son of the late Thomas Jewell Franklin and the late Beverly Jean Brooks.
David dedicated over two decades of his life to the construction industry. His passion for life was evident not just in his work, but in the way he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He gave his family strength and support. His family was the center of his universe, and he found joy in their togetherness.
David was known for his love of nature and the great outdoors. He spent a lot of his free time hunting and fishing, sharing these experiences with friends and family who were fortunate enough to join him. He also enjoyed working in the yard and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Chrystal Hix; brothers, Larry Franklin, Tommy Franklin; grandson, Andruw Franklin; sister, Debbie Pirkle.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Presnell; daughters, Kimberly Boatright (Michael Cosby), Hillary (Justin) Holden, Ivy Hix and Paris Hix; son, Jason Franklin, all of Dallas; sisters, Beverly Lariscy and Rogena Summerour of Villa Rica and Cynthia Franklin of Tallapoosa; brother, Darrell Franklin (Kelly) of Waco; twelve grandchildren, D.J. Boatright (Brianna Pitts), Jesse Boatright (Lauren Scroggins), Matthew and Stephanie Franklin, Hannah Franklin (Christopher Holmes), Emily Benson (Hunter Barlow), Aly Franklin, Bryson Franklin, Jason Franklin, Jr., Justin Tate (Ashley Tate); thirteen great-grandchildren, Briana, Andrew, Roman, Ethan, Willa, Oliver, Abrianna, Brantley, Adaline, Madison, Greyson, Ava, Jaxton, A'Liyah; step-sisters, Tonya Clifford) Richardson, Tammy (George) Hall; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel. Interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens.
As we remember David Lee Franklin, we celebrate a man who not only built structures with his hands but also built cherished memories with his heart. His legacy of love and devotion will forever resonate in the lives he touched. He leaves behind a wealth of memories that will be held dearly by all who had the privilege to know him. His spirit will live on in the laughter of his family and in the beauty of the gardens he so lovingly nurtured. Rest in peace, David.
