David Holmes Obituary

HEUVELTON-A graveside service for David G. Holmes, 73, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Eel Weir with Hon. Rev. Roger K. Duvall officiating. Mr. Holmes passed away early Friday morning, October 17, 2025, in Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, surrounded by his family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg.
David Holmes was born on April 21, 1952, in Ogdensburg, New York, to George and Emma Jean (Rupert) Holmes. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy, graduating with the Class of 1971. Shortly after, he served his country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. On June 22, 1997, David married Sandra Tiernan in Ogdensburg, where they built a life together. He later retired from Hoosier Magnetics, where he was a production manager and a dedicated employee. David was an outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing; he was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He was a member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge. David cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, Patches, who brought him great happiness. Most of all he loved to be with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Holmes of Ogdensburg; his mother, Emma Jean Holmes of Ogdensburg; his siblings, Richard Holmes of Ogdensburg, Mark (Kim) Holmes of Ogdensburg; Vicki (Edwin) Hockenbery of Hammond, and Debra Holmes of Russell; his sister-in-law, Janice and Wendell Monroe of Ogdensburg; his grandson, Andrew Gemmill; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, George Holmes; his step-son, Lawrence Michael Thivierge; his brother, Stephen Holmes; sister-in-law, Judith Holmes; and brother-in-law, Gary Whiting
