David Allen Moats, 85, of Waverly, Ohio died peacefully after an extended illness 10:41 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
David was born July 2, 1940, in Pike County, Ohio, the son of the late John Allen Moats and Irma (Pollard) Moats. He was united in marriage to Paulette Moats, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Kandace (Rick) Morris and Deborah (Jim) Savage; three grandchildren, Lynette, Nicholas, and Matthew; four great grandchildren, Madisyn, MacKenzie, Elijah, and Tucker; and two sisters, Ruth (Charles) Emory and Rita (Ralph) Au.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Roberts; and a bother-in-law, David Roberts.
David was a lifelong resident of Waverly who loved farming. He was a graduate of Waverly High School. David was a member of the Pike County Tractor Club, Farm Bureau, New Covenant CCCU, formerly McKibban CCCU. He retired from the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Piketon and was a longtime employee of Boyer Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Pastor Samuel Lore officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Bridge Street, Waverly, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday.
