Patricia Ann Apple was born on May 13, 1947 in Carthage, TN, to Hershel Apple, Jr. and Thelma Isabel Fox Apple. She graduated from Shelbyville High School and received her degree in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. She taught school in Columbia, Nashville, and Memphis in Tennessee and also in Houston, Texas.
She worked for Amoco International in Houston before moving to South Carolina where she retired as Assistant to the Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina. She was a Master Gardener and a State Barbecue Judge in South Carolina.
She married James M. Dedman III August 18, 1967, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, who survives her in addition to her two sons, James M. Dedman IV and Bertram C. Dedman, and her granddaughter Olivia Alexandra Dedman.
