Deborah Jordan Obituary

Deborah "Jean" Jordan was born on December 24, 1956, to the late Virnella Gertrude Meadows and Willie Mattocks. She departed this life on August 5, 2025 at her home in Belgrade North Carolina.

Jean joined the St. Stephen A.M.E Zion Church of Belgrade during her teen years. She served for years as the President of the Ushers, she was a member of the choir, and she attended church whenever her health permitted.

Jean received her education through the Onslow County School system. She worked for many years in various fields before opting to dedicate her life to being a wife, mother figure, homemaker, and caretaker. Jean had many hobbies and activities that she loved but spending time with her loved ones was always her most joyous time.

Jean married Jimmy Wakely Jordan in June of 1979. They were married until he proceeded her in death on October 28,2012. Jean was also proceeded in death by: her mother, Virnella Meadows; her father, Willie Mattocks; Her sister, Gloria Meadows; and her brother, Jammie Meadows. She leaves to cherish her memories: her step daughter, Victoria Purvis (Preston) of New Bern, NC; One sister, Joyce Meadows of Belgrade, NC; One special cousin/ sister, Vera Revels of St Marys GA; Five brothers, Melvin Meadows of Jacksonville NC, Michael Meadows of Columbus GA, Ivery Meadows (Angela) of Clayton NC, Curtis Meadows (Amie) of Jacksonville NC, and Isreal Meadows (Laurie) of Wake Forest NC; One uncle, William Hatchell (Matilda) of Stockbridge GA; One aunt, Della Meadows of Brooklyn NY; Two honorary daughters, Shanice Mattocks of Pollocksville NC, and Ki'errah Meadows of Jacksonville NC; Two special nieces, Deirdra Meadows of Jacksonville NC , and Kitara Meadows of Belgrade NC; One cousin, Mary Roberts; and five special nephews, Xyshaun Meadows of Belgrade NC; Zamar, Zairre, and Zayden Mitchell of

Jacksonville NC and Zakari Meadows of Jacksonville NC and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The family will be receiving friends for a time of visitation on Friday August 8, 2025, at Kahlert Funeral Chapel from 5:00 pm to 6:00pm.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday August 9, 2025, at St. Stephen A.M.E. Zion Church, 501 Hadley Collins Road Maysville, NC 28555 with Rev. Katie B. Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at the Wooten Family Cemetery, Belgrade, NC.
