Debbie Jo Kennedy passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Carthage, Missouri. Born on March 1, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbur and Joyce (Ingold) Ellis. Debbie's life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and the joy of simple pleasures.
Debbie, a graduate of Winnetonka High School's class of 1979, in North Kansas City. Her career was marked by dedication and service, first at the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, where she was a valued member of the check processing team, and later at Carthage Mercy Hospital, where she greeted countless individuals with warmth as they entered the E.R.. Beyond her professional life, Debbie was a woman of many passions. She had an unwavering love for animals, cherishing the companionship of her beloved dogs and cats.
Debbie's memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Jenna Dugan, and son-in-law, Eric, of Louisburg, Kansas; her adored granddaughter, Harper Dugan; and her caring parents, Wilbur and Joyce Ellis of Wheatland, Missouri. Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wilcox, whose memory remained a guiding light in her life.
Per Debbie's wishes there was cremation and private family services will be held at a later date.
