August 13, 1959 – January 13, 2025
Mrs. Debra Denise Koontz, 65, of Fulton, Arkansas, passed away suddenly at Southwest Regional Medical Center of Hope, Arkansas on the morning of Monday, January 13, 2025. Mrs. Koontz was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a homebody who loved her family, especially her grandbabies. She spent her time reading, cooking and collecting recipes and cookbooks. Mrs. Koontz held a bachelor's degree in education and was employed by the Hope Public School District until she retired. Most importantly she was a Christian and very active member of Union Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton, Arkansas until her last breath on Earth.
She was born to the late Mr. Leoron Brown and the late Mrs. Nancy Lee Wright on August 13, 1959. Ms. Wright would go on to marry Mr. Parker Moore who raised Debra as his own child. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Leoron Brown, Mrs. Nancy Lee Wright-Moore and Mr. Parker Moore. One son, Steven Ray Koontz, and one brother, Mr. Timothy Moore and one grandson, Terry Ray Koontz.
She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Deacon Farris Koontz of Fulton, Arkansas. One son, Morris Brian Koontz of Brickey, Arkansas. Two daughters, Janice Koontz (Bianca) of Texarkana, Arkansas and Lesley Koontz of Fulton, Arkansas. Two brothers, Reco (Virginia) White of Nash, Texas and Jeffery (LaKeesha) Moore of Benton, Arkansas and one sister, Jane Brown of Houston, Texas. Six grandchildren, Ashaunte Koontz, Deaja Koontz, Jalia Sampson, Jahirah Sampson, Jaden Sampson, Jayce Sampson and one great grandchild, Juliana Sampson.
Her service will be held on Saturday morning January 25, 2025, at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 201 Towson Street; Fulton, Arkansas, where Pastor Richard C. Black will serve as Officiant and Eulogist. There will be a public visitation in the church from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. which will be the only viewing. At the request of the family, there will not be any further viewing after that hour. Interment will be immediately following the service at Scott Memorial Gardens, 5610 Highway 67 East, Hope, Arkansas 71801.
