Debra Kay Wilson, a beacon of selfless love and unwavering faith, passed away on July 7, 2025, in
Kyle, Texas. Born on June 4, 1954, in
Austin, Texas, Debra was a cherished individual whose life was marked by her dedication to caring for others. Though she has departed from this world, her legacy of warmth and generosity remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Debra's early life in Austin set the stage for her lifelong commitment to nurturing and support. She graduated from Crockett High School in 1972 and soon after, pursued her passion for healthcare by earning an associate's degree as a licensed vocational nurse from Austin Community College in 1974. Her career in nursing was not just a job but a calling. Debra began her journey in pediatrics at Brackenridge Hospital, where her gentle touch and soothing voice brought comfort to countless young patients. She later continued to make a difference at the Austin Neurological Clinic until her well-deserved retirement in 2012.
Beyond her professional achievements, Debra's personal life was rich with interests and relationships that reflected her vibrant spirit. A lifelong learner, she remained fascinated by the ever-evolving field of medicine, eagerly absorbing new information long after her retirement. Debra's love for reading was only matched by her passion for movies, where she found joy in the escapism and storytelling of the big screen. She also possessed a beautiful singing voice.
Her home reflected her passions-most notably her cherished collection of clowns, which brought her joy and expressed her playful spirit. A fantastic cook, Debra shared her love through food and laughter, especially during the many happy times spent in the kitchen with her best friend, Carrie Mozingo. Their 59 year friendship was full of laughter, love, and a bond that endured through all of life's seasons.
Animals held a special place in Debra's heart, and she showered them with the same affection and care that she extended to her human friends and family. Her beloved pets, Baby and Cheri, predeceased her, while her adored cat, Miss B, continues to embody the gentle care that Debra was known for.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Royal and Peggy Wilson, and her sisters, Donna and Terri Wilson. She is survived by her nephew Christopher Cain, niece Britney Cain, and great-niece Milla Cain.
