Dody died Tuesday, July 15, 2025, surrounded by family at University of Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska
Delores Dover, daughter of Lawrence, Sr. and Mary (Starman) Stuhr, was born February 27, 1952, in Tilden, Nebraska, the youngest of ten children. She grew up and attended school in Petersburg, graduating from high school in 1970. After graduation, Dody moved to Columbus and worked at Dale's Electronics where she met the love of her life, Donald Dover, Jr. The couple married on August 4, 1973. They were blessed with three sons.
After her job at Dale's, Dody managed the cafeteria at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk before moving on as a receptionist at the Carson Cancer Center until her retirement.
Dody's life was primarily defined by her faith and her love for family. Regarded as the glue that held the family together, she was loving, caring, and would drop anything the moment her husband, kids, or siblings needed her. In addition to her own children, Dody became a mothering figure in the life of anyone else who was in need. She prayed the rosary daily and attended regular bible studies.
Her family remembers her as a great cook and always relished her tuna noodle casserole, hamburger casserole, and rice crispy bars. Dody enjoyed baking with her grandkids, going for regular pedicures with the "Dover Chicks," manicures with her goddaughter, Cindy, and wine giggles with her other goddaughter, Anita. She took great pride in her beautiful nails.
Dody believed in giving back to her community. She participated in the Relay for Life, was the president of the Norfolk Jaycees, and served on the Battle Creek School Board.
She loved angels and had an extensive collection.
Dody is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Wayne (Molly) Dover of Sioux Falls SD and their children Mason, Murphy, Carter, and Cole, Scott Dover of San Angelo TX and his children Caden and Caleb, and Matt (Emily) Dover of Springfield NE and their children Peyton, Ayden, Kynli, and Kyler; siblings, Ann Beckman, Betty (Lyle) Mackel, Jodie (Paul) Eisenmenger, Sylvester "Vet" (Shirley) Stuhr, and Helen (Tim) Larson; in-laws, Dee Stuhr, Neal (Diann) Acklie, and Denise (Keith) Peters; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tony Stuhr; brother, Ray Stuhr and his wife Barb; brother, Lawrence Stuhr and his wife Ellen; brother-in-law, Leonard Beckman; sisters, Henerietta Gall and her husband George; sister-in-law, Dorene Hoffman and her husband Jake; and parents-in-law, Donald Dover, Sr. and Deloris Dover.
