Funeral services for Denis Edward Jacobson, age 74 of Whitehouse, TX, and formerly of Columbia, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 17, 2025, from the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia, with Bro. Stan Wyant officiating and Bro. Bodie Spicer offering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Rosefield Cemetery, Rosefield, LA, with Bro. Zack Anderson officiating. The family will have visitation on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the funeral home from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Denis was born December 13, 1950, in New Orleans, LA, to the union of his parents, W. E. (Jake) Jacobson and Sarah McGuffee Jacobson. He passed from this life to his heavenly home on July 12, 2025, in Tyler, TX. Denis loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. While living in Caldwell Parish he was a co-owner of D & H Express Lube in Grayson, where he never met a stranger. He loved the people of the community and believed in serving others. He was a living example of service throughout his life. Denis was elected to and served on the Police Jury for Caldwell Parish. He served as a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Columbia and Cheniere Baptist Church in West Monroe. He was currently a member of Central Baptist Church in Tyler, TX. Denis was also a former Gideon and CASA Advocate, a volunteer position geared to improving the lives of children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Darren Edward Jacobson, and his daughter Lisa Ann Jacobson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Janice Wyant Jacobson of Whitehouse, TX; children, Chris L. Jacobson (Michelle) and Melissa Jacobson-Gorman, all of Whitehouse, TX; brother, Gary Jacobson (Sue) of Sterlington; sisters: Gail Lynn Jacobson of Quitman, TX, Tina Privett (Randy) of Dayton, TX, Mary Ann Lloyd and Tonya Jacobson, both of Monroe; grandchildren: Harrison Jacobson (Maria) of Downsville, Ramsey Cummings (Alex) of Shreveport, Emilyanne Jacobson (fiance' Collin Bamburg) of West Monroe, McKenzie Jacobson and Hayden Jacobson, both of Whitehouse, TX; great-grandchildren, Penelope Jacobson and Darren Paul Cummings; as well as, honorary grandsons: Clayton Magee, Cody Shirley, and Mason Hall.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lamar Gilliland, Nicky Hilburn, Tanner Gilliland, Richard Keeble, Clayton Magee, and Denious Jacobson. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Watts, Hershel Volentine, Leslie Fallin, Ireland Grant, and Alvin McKee.
