Denise Ludeke, of New Brunswick passed away on Monday, February 17th at the Parker at Landing Lane Nursing Home in New Brunswick. She passed away due to complications resulting from Alzheimer's Disease after a prolonged battle with the disease. She was 73.
Born in Jersey City, she lived in Parlin before moving to New Brunswick in 1978 to start a family.
She worked as an Assistant Vice President with E.F. Hutton in New York City from 1978-1981. She raised her two children for most of the 1980s before returning to work, primarily as the Superintendent of Public Property for the City of New Brunswick before her retirement. She was also a frequent volunteer with the Middlesex County Democratic Party. After her father's stroke in 1994, she supported her mother in taking care of him and their family home.
Denise loved her dogs, enjoyed trips to the beach as much as possible, gardening around her home and was an excellent cook. Known for her infectious laugh and strong opinions, she most of all loved spending time surrounded by family and friends.
After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2006, Denise's family served as her primary caregivers for many years before she entered long term care. They have been very active with various organizations that raise awareness and fund research into the fight against Alzheimer's.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edmund & Florence Regan.
Surviving are her husband, Walter; daughter and son-in-law, Regan & John Scicutella of Kinnelon; son and daughter-in-law, Drew & Chelsea Ludeke of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Edmund Regan, Jr. of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and 4 grandchildren, Gia, Jack, Grant and Declan.
