Dennis Moretti Obituary

Dennis C. "Duke" Moretti, 74, died July 31, 2025 peacefully at home with his family by his side.

Dennis was born in Somerville to the late parents Joseph and Myra Moretti. He was a lifelong resident of Somerville. He was a 1968 graduate of Somerville High School. Dennis owned D. Moretti Trucking and then worked at Vollers Excavating & Construction, Inc. in Branchburg. He was a Sergeant in the United States Army serving as a Green Beret in Special Forces. Dennis was a 50-year member of Somerville Central Hook and Ladder Fire Company #1. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing softball with the firemen, watching the NY Yankees, and spending time with his family, especially walks and slow dancing with his wife, dinners, picnics and vacations. Dennis always had a joke on hand to share and was known as Mr. Fix-It since he liked to tinker with things around the house. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Dennis Bellomo.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann (Kurilla) Moretti, sons Dennis and Steve (Sandra), daughter Sherri Ann Parsh, siblings Joseph Moretti (Donna), Sandy Bellomo, and Sue Jones (Frank), and three grandchildren Jesse, Violet, and Stevie.

Prayers will be 9am Wednesday at Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave, Somerville followed by a 10am mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. Entombment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Annandale.

Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
