Diane Gayle Benson, of 45 South Bear Hill Rd., Chaplin, CT, left this world on June 23,2025, she succumbed to a horrific fall and passes at Hartford Hospital. Born on March 2, 1944, in South Haven, Michigan. She lived most of her life in the Midwest. She leaves behind her sister, Donna Oates and her husband Harry; two nieces, Christina Oates and Amanda Oates, nephew Justin Oates; her special cousin and confidant Nancy Saur and her husband Jim, all her extended family and many, many friends. That was so important to her life. Diane was a graduate of Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois with a degree in science. She worked in cancer research in Chicago and was a Botanist at Ball Corporation where she wrote patents for new strains of flowers. Diane was passionate about what she loved, never without at least one kitty (they were her children). She was an amazing knitter, a skilled colored pencil artist, and an avid genealogist. Her special gift was gardening; leaving beauty wherever she lived. Her last years were lived in Chaplin, CT. with her loving husband of 17 years, George (Jeff) Cour and her inherited family of 4 children and 10 grandchildren. She was happy here. Greatly loved and terribly missed. There will be an intimate graveside service at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, Diane would ask you to donate to your local library, support an animal rescue center, or plant something beautiful in her memory.
