Diane May (Hartman) Murphy, 82, of Williamstown, MA, died Tuesday April 1, 2025, at home. She was born in North Adams on September 10, 1942, a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Irene (Morris) Hartman.
As a young entrepreneur, she ran her own popcorn stand out of the family-owned Hartman garage. She graduated from Williamstown High School in 1960. After graduation she worked at the Pownal Tannery, Cornish Wire, Clock & DeCloux Hatchery at Mt. Hope Cow Barn, and K & H PortaBrace. She was especially proud of her time as Assistant Farm Manager at Harco Orchards Poultry Farm in Norton (1974-1982), which is where she met the love of her life, Larry. Diane was a self-taught artist and enjoyed painting. One of her most cherished pieces, a vibrant mural representing homes, hobbies, and favorite spots of her loved ones, "Familyville."
Diane leaves behind her husband Lawrence Michael Murphy of Williamstown; children Brenda Little (John), Robin Nelson (John Morin), Michael Murphy (Ellen), Michelle Murphy; brother Raymond C. Hartman (Kathy Martin); ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sons Jason Murphy, Robert Hurley Jr.; her daughter Karen Belanger; and sister Linda Hartman.
