Didrek "Dee" Didreckson Jr, of Billings, MO passed away peacefully on July 04, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born in Marshall County, South Dakota, to Didrek and Ester (Slaight) Didreckson and was one of five children in the home.
After graduating from high school, Dee enlisted in the US Army and honorably served his country for four years, much of the time on foreign soil. During his enlistment, he met Sheila Dorman. Dee was able to travel to nine European countries while stationed overseas. Dee and Sheila were married when he returned from overseas and they were blessed with three children, Tina, Terry, and Tamara. When the family lived in California, Dee was a member of the Lutheran church, where he sang in the choir. Dee worked as a general contractor, and when Dee relocated to Missouri, he built numerous homes down in the Table Rock Lake area. Dee and Sheila enjoyed traveling with their camper, having seen all 50 states, as well as five Canadian provinces, often taking a grandchild or two along for the journey. They belonged to a camping group called Chapter 17, which would camp together one week a month from April to around October. They made many long-lasting friendships with this great group of people.
Dee is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leonard Didreckson, and a sister, Alice Christofferson.
Surviving Dee are, Sheila, their three children Tina Didreckson, Terry Didreckson, and Tamara DeMint and husband Cary, two grandchildren Amber Tanner and husband Robert and Alex De Mint, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a sister Ethel Styron and a brother Levern "Pete" Didreckson, as well as other extended family and countless friends.
Per Dee's request, he will be cremated and laid to rest at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield on August 22, 2025 at 3 p.m.
