Donald Ford Cheek, 75, of Robbins, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Donald is the son of the late Henry Ford Cheek and Mary Murelene Hartzog Cheek. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Cheek and Henrietta Fuller; brother, James Cheek; sister-in-law, Jackie Cheek, and father-in-law, Vernon Purvis.
Donald was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where he found great joy in singing in the choir. He shared his love of music by helping lead the children's VBS music and served faithfully as the church superintendent for a time. A man of many passions, Donald found happiness in the beauty of flowers around his home, and he enjoyed crocheting, a skill he practiced with both care and creativity. Donald was also a wonderful cook, whose red velvet cake was always a fan favorite. He cherished traveling with his family and approached life with a youthful spirit, always full of joy and laughter. Donald had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Bella, who was always by his side. Above all, Donald treasured the time spent with his family, especially on vacations that created lasting memories. His kind heart, vibrant personality, and devotion to those he loved will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
In addition to his mother, Donald is survived by his best friend and wife of 51 years, Linda Purvis Cheek of Robbins; two daughters, Amy Vuncannon (Jimmy) of Star, NC and Monica Agema (Justin) of Irmo, SC; son, Jason Cheek (Tina) of Madison Heights, VA; sister, Sandra Patrick (Wayne) of Fleetwood, NC; brother, Ronnie Cheek of Fleetwood, NC; five grandchildren, Rachel and Jacob Vuncannon, Emma and Molly Cheek, and Rosalynn Agema; mother-in-law, Betty Lou Purvis; and many beloved, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Victor Hill officiating. The burial will take place at the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 1535 N Moore Road, Robbins, NC 27325.
