On June 19, 2025, our beloved Donald Lee Hall-"Donnie" to so many who knew and loved him-left this world surrounded by love and held in spirit by every heart he touched. Raised in San Antonio, Texas, the city he always called home, Donnie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, and quiet strength that will carry on through every life he poured into.
Donnie was the kind of man who made the world better just by being in it. A brilliant Engineer since 1994 (though anyone who knew him knows his mind started tinkering long before that), he built not just things-but trust, respect, and lasting friendships. He was highly intelligent, endlessly curious, and someone his colleagues deeply admired and leaned on. But it wasn't just his brain that made him exceptional-it was his heart.
He attended Southwest High School in San Antonio, TX, where he served as the proud Drum Captain of the Southwest ISD Band Program. That early leadership, paired with his deep love for music, carried through his life. He was musical to his core-a drummer, a listener, a feeler. Music pulsed through his life and into the lives of his children, especially his three boys who inherited his rhythm and soul-teaching them not just how to play, but how to be disciplined, focused, and expressive. He never missed a practice or concert, always showing up as their biggest fan and proud dad.
Donnie's love story with his wife, Eve, was the stuff of fairy tales. They met 31 years ago, when Eve was just 17, and fell in love at first sight-something quiet and powerful that bloomed in secret until fate allowed them to reunite. They married on June 19, 1999, beginning a journey filled with deep affection, joy, and unwavering devotion. Donnie gave Eve life experiences she never imagined-spoiling her with love, attention, warm embraces, sweet words, and surprise gifts of dolls, figurines, and diamonds. He treated her like a princess because, in his eyes, she was-and he was every bit the prince in hers. Their young love remained tender and magical through the decades, a shining example of what soulmates truly look like.
Donnie was also deeply passionate about his work. He spent 27 years at NXP Semiconductors in Austin, Texas, where he served as a Process Technology Engineer from February 2, 1998, until June 19, 2025. His dedication to the field and to his team was unwavering. More than just a workplace, NXP became a second family to Donnie-a place where he thrived intellectually, contributed meaningfully, and formed friendships that stood the test of time. He absolutely loved what he did and was proud of the legacy he built there.
When he wasn't working or supporting his family, Donnie found peace in the quiet stillness of fishing-his favorite pastime. He loved the calm of serene waters and the steady patience it required. Fishing gave him space to reflect, breathe, and just be. It was where he felt most connected to nature and, in many ways, to himself.
Donnie is survived by his loving mother, Chieko (Linda) Hall, and his brother, David Hall. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Eve Hall, and their three sons: Nathaniel, Nikolas, and Nayson Hall-each of whom carries forward his intelligence, kindness, and quiet strength.
He is also survived by his adoptive daughters-Esmeralda Vences, Elena De La Garza, and Veronica Dominguez-who are forever grateful for the love, guidance, and steady presence he brought into their lives.
Though our hearts are broken, we know Donnie is still with us-guiding us through the darkness with the same calm strength he always had. We will honor him by living the way he did: with kindness, with laughter, and with music in our hearts.
We miss you already, Donnie. But we feel you everywhere. Keep playing your song in heaven-and we'll be listening.
