Donald J. “Don” Haslag, Sr., age 88, of Bonnots Mill, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.
Don was born on January 28, 1937, in Frankenstein, a son to the late Lincoln and Myrtle (Peters) Haslag.
He was a 1955 graduate of Linn High School.
On September 24, 1955, he was united in marriage to Nancy Jo Fisher in Tunica, MS. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1993. On September 2, 1995, he was united in marriage to Alice Ann Meier in Loose Creek. She preceded him in death on October 5, 2011.
Don worked as a book binder for Von Hoffman Press in Jefferson City for 30 years before retiring in 1999. He also was a poultry and Charolais farmer.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek and the American International Charolais Association.
Don enjoyed raising his registered Charolais cows, NASCAR, and spending time with his family and friends.
Don is survived by one son, Donnie Haslag, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Bonnots Mill; three daughters, Dianna Silvester and her husband David of Jefferson City, Darla (Donnie Mantle) Luebbert of Jefferson City, and Debbie Jaegers and her husband Keith of Linn; one brother, James “Jim” Haslag and his wife Patricia of Linn; one sister, Peggy Rikard and her husband Ken of Homosassa Springs, FL; special friend, Millie Voss of Linn; 15 grandchildren, John (Nicole Mendoza) Haslag, Amy (Zach) Dapron, Patrick (Jourdan) Haslag, Duane (Jodi) Haslag, Nikki (Cory) Hall, Justin (Cadi Bullock) Haslag, Cody (Taylor) Haslag, Kalieb Haslag, Corrie (Adam) McKinney, Jasmine (Trent) VanLoo, Brandel (Brittany) Luebbert, Meghan (Josh) Kliethermes, Brittney (Keith) Furgeson, and Riley Jaegers; 30 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and spouses, Don was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Lee Haslag and a son-in-law, Phil Luebbert.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Loose Creek with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Anthony Rinaldo as the Celebrant. Interment will be held in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
