Donald "Don" Haug was born to Norwegian immigrant parents in Minneapolis, MN, on August 25, 1927, the last of seven children. He passed away peacefully at Edgewood memory care, Fargo, ND on July 28, 2025. A memorial service to honor Don's, life, internment and a reception will be held at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN starting at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 1, 2025. A visitation will begin one half hour prior to the service at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements have been entrusted to Washburn-McReavy Nokomis Park Chapel, Minneapolis. Don was born on August 25, 1927, in Minneapolis, MN, the last of seven (7) children of Agnes Marie (Tomte) and Knute Anders Haug. Don grew up in Minneapolis, lived in several different homes and neighborhoods as his dad was a carpenter / contractor. He graduated from Central High School, in Minneapolis and then served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp in 1945, serving for 2 years and was discharged in 1947. Returning to Minneapolis, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota earning a 2-year degree in business with his GI Bill. Dad always said that his military service and the GI Bill was one of the best things that ever happened to him. He worked at Reynolds Aluminum for a while after college where he met Wanda Mae Johnson. Don and Wanda were married in 1954 and Don started working for Retail Credit Company (RCC) in Minneapolis. Don and Wanda bought their first home in Bloomington where they started raising their three (3) sons, Brian, Brent and Greg. Don was promoted and transferred to Mankato, MN where he managed a RCC office beginning in 1964. Then, in the summer of 1967, Don was promoted and transferred again with RCC to manage a new branch office in Fargo, ND (RCC later became Equifax). In Fargo, Don raised his 3 sons and instilled his values of hard work, honesty, integrity, the importance of a good education and family values. His boys listened most of the time, but Don put up with plenty of shenanigans too! Don loved to hunt and fish taking his boys on many adventures as adolescence and young men. He especially loved hunting in Western ND and fishing in Saskatchewan, Canada. His last deer hunt was when he was 83. Don also liked to work in his yard on East Country Club Drive, winning the "Yard of the Month" award in Fargo twice in the 1970's. Don was adorded by many, he was always engaged in other's lives and was thoughtful and kind to all those around him. He was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church for nearly 60 years and had a special relationship with his Lord and Savior. He is now back in the company of his immediate family and old friends but will be deeply missed by all his extended family. Don is preceded in death by his former wife, Wanda; son, Keith; his parents, Knute and Agnes Marie (Tomte) Haug; his siblings, Berger, Esther Hamilton, Manley, Walter, Al and Marion Gade. He is survived by three sons, Brian (Shelly), Brent, Greg (Lorri); 9 grandchildren;18 great grandchildren with one on the way and a host of family and friends.
