Donald N. Johannsen, age 80, of Pomeroy, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Accura Healthcare of Pomeroy in Pomeroy, Iowa.
Donald Nels Johannsen was born on August 14, 1944, in Havelock, Iowa. He was the son of Nels and Lucille (Auten) Johannsen. He was educated in Havelock and Pocahontas Schools. In the early 1960's Donald moved to the Oakdale Campus near Coralville. Donald lived and worked as a custodian on the Oakdale Campus. After 30 years at Oakdale, Donald retired and returned to Rolfe. In 2006, he moved to Pomeroy.
Donald had a strong faith. He enjoyed collecting coins & stamps and doing crafts, including leatherwork and locksmithing. He also enjoyed collecting and playing harmonicas, listening to country music on KWMT radio, watching television and reading westerns written by Louis L'Amour.
Donald had four siblings, including a twin brother, Ronald Johannsen and three sisters, Violet Jenkins, Christine Buchholtz and Marlys Mileham.
