Donald Lee Mertensmeyer, 72, of Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Life Care of Carrollton.
He was born March 25, 1953, in Carrollton, son of Lawrence L. and Nellie (Backes) Mertensmeyer.
Don attended grade school at St. Mary's and was a 1971 graduate of Carrollton High School. He worked at Banquet until it closed and later at the Opportunity Enterprise workshop. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his siblings, Jerry Mertensmeyer, of Fayetteville, AR, Judy Kipping (Fred), of Carrollton, Linda Brock (R.M.), of Carrollton, Tom Mertensmeyer (Cynthia), of Phoenix, AZ, and Steve Mertensmeyer, of Kansas City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Kay Tansey, and Mary Margaret Mertensmeyer (in infancy).
Prayers of the Rosary will begin at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the church.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's Cemetery or Opportunity Enterprise.
Arrangements are in the care of Bittiker Funeral Home.
