It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald "Don" Roughan shares the news of his passing after his courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He went to join his Heavenly Father on July 14, 2025. His final time was spent in the comfort of his home with his wife and his treasured dogs Molly and Gucci.
Don was born in Rochester, NY on June 3, 1943. He spent most of his life in Arizona. Don was an Officer in the Arizona National Guard, a Police Officer with the City of Phoenix, a decorated member of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office being named Deputy of the Year and receiving his most treasured award, "The Lifesaving Award" while with Maricopa County. Don ended his career in Payson with the Gila County Probation Office where he helped change many lives through the Community Service Program for Probationers.
Don was an avid fisherman and hunter and owned Bartlett Lake Guide Company where he spent countless hours helping people catch fish, have a nice lunch and just enjoy time on the lake. His children earned the value of hard work during that time helping their Dad in all aspects of the business.
Don is survived by his wife Susan of 33 years, daughters Coila (Ryan), Tara (Larry) and Christa (Geoff) and son Christoper (Shay). He is also survived by the joys of his life, Grandsons Andrew, Dylan and Carter Davis, Wyatt and Brayden Harkema and Granddaughter Addison Harkema. Numerous nieces and nephews, as well as friends and colleagues, are mourning his passing as well. He cherished you all~
Susan would like to give special thanks to Don's personal medical Provider, Kristen Woods (and Delaney) as well as everyone at AZ Care Hospice and the staff of Comfort Keepers here in Payson. You helped to make his life better~
