Formerly of Closter NJ, age 92 passed away on April 25, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family. Preceding Donald his wife of 60 years Nancy (2019) Survived by his three children Cynthia Fullman and husband Peter of Myrtle Beach SC, James Winters and wife Dorine of Harrington Park, NJ and Susan Lutz of Fort Worth, TX. Five grandchildren Keith (his wife Carin and her daughter Makena), Alyssa, Christine, Allyson and Lily and two great-grandchildren, Harper and Carter. Also survived by two nieces Joanne & Karen Kessler. Donald was a veteran of the US Army. Donald worked for Nabisco for 32 years in the marketing department, retiring in 1993. Donald and Nancy lived in Closter for 55 years. Donald had a very active retirement. A long-time member of the Closter Lions Club serving as President and Secretary. He volunteered at the Borough of Closter as member of Board of Ethics and Board of Health serving as President. He worked for Borough as a Crossing Guard working his favorite post on Harrington Ave at Tenakill school. Most of all Donald was an avid train enthusiast, a hobby he shared with son James. Donald was 37 year member of Bergen-Rockland Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society where he served as President and National Director traveling nation wide with Nancy for conventions making many friends. Most of all he loved his morning breakfasts at the Red Maple in Closter, which he was doing up to the end. Interment will be private with a Memorial Service planned for Saturday June 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Closter Lions Club and the Closter Volunteer Fire Department.
