Donald Zumbrunn Obituary

Donald W. Zumbrunn of Wakefield, age 91 years, passed away October 21,2025 at Village Manor, Abilene,Ks. He was born to Henry and Myrtle (Wallace) Zumbrunn on May 17, 1934 at the Geary County Hospital, Junction City, Ks. He grew up on the family farm north of Chapman. He was the youngest of six children. He attended local schools and graduated from DCCHS in 1952.

He spotted his future bride at the carnival in Chapman. After convincing her to take a ferris wheel ride, the rest is history. They were married December 18,1954 in the home of her parents, Harold and Laura Stacey.

From this union were born seven children. Vicki Simenson (Ken) of Abilene, Debbie Owens of Hutchinson, Annette Carstenson (Jay) of Westmoreland, Laurie Knight (Shannon) of Enterprise,

Kerri Saum (Lyle) of Enterprise. Two sons, David Zumbrunn (Deceased) and Tim Zumbrunn (Cathy) of Wakefield.

He was a man admired for his faith, integrity, patience, humor and devotion to his wife and family.

His love of cars and mechanics began with racing jalopies, restoring cars and tractors. Which led to him establishing his own business, Don's Tractor Repair. He also took over the Stacey family farm.

He enjoyed family get togethers, softball, bowling, Royals baseball, K-State, Worlds of Fun, family vacations, Chiefs football and our Halloween parties in the pasture.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, siblings, son David, age 18, Grandson J.D., age 11, and Granddaughter, Stephanie, age 31.

A Rosary for Donald will be held Thursday evening October 23 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Church in Chapman with visitation to follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday October 24 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. Donald's final resting place will be in the Greenridge Cemetery1325 3600 Ave. Memorials may be made to St. Michael's Church or Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice and may be left at the church or sent in care of Londeen-Overlease Funer Chapel PO Box 411 Chapman, Kansas 67431
