Our beloved mother, Donna Louise Goett, passed into the arms of the Lord on February 15, 2025.
She was born in Vancouver, BC Canada on October 16, 1938, to Geoffrey Cornwallis Thompson and Louise Ellen McGogy Thompson. The second of seven daughters, she spent her early years on a small farm and had fond memories of those times. She graduated from Duke of Connaught High School in 1956. On September 14, 1957, she and our dad, Raymond Clinton Goett, were married and they embarked upon a life of adventure with Ray's career in Escrow and Real Estate taking them many places. In 1961, she and Ray immigrated to the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County with their three young children, Michael, Catherine, and Lauren.
Mom volunteered in hospital auxiliaries in West Covina, CA and later in Anacortes, WA. She and Dad were lifelong bridge players and after Dad's passing she was involved in bridge and a Mahjong group in Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley. Mom worked as a bank teller throughout her life when need be. Foremost, she was a wonderful homemaker, wife and always a gentle and loving mother. She spent many years supporting us in our sports, school events, and beyond. She was the heart of our family life. She kept a lovely home and made every holiday special. She gave us wings and encouraged us in our endeavors and was always there for us, win or lose. But we won just by having her by our side. We were truly blessed.
In 1989, she and Dad moved to Anacortes where he became the owner/broker of Bryant's Realty, later Century 21. After his retirement, they became snowbirds and split their years between Skagit County and Yuma, Arizona. In their 54 years together, mom and dad traveled back and forth to see their families in Canada, traveled to Caracas, Venezuela and home via the Panama Canal. They toured mainland China in 2000. They made numerous visits to Mexico and then to Europe, touring Germany, Italy, England and France. They also traveled extensively in their RV throughout the PNW and the Western US.
Donna was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 2011, their newborn son Gregory Stephen, her parents, Geoffrey and Louise, her sisters Susan Melynchuk, Nicki Burden (Bill), and infant twin sisters Barbara and Sally Thompson.
She is survived by her son Michael Goett and his wife Kimberly, and daughters Catherine Goett Sisk and Lauren Wright and her husband Fred. She leaves behind her sister Anne Burden (Leroy,) her sister Judith Rickard (David,) sisters in law Marie Goett and Kathy Goett, 11 grandchildren, Kendell, Claire, Kelly, Sean, David, Stephen, Allison, Robin, Madeline, George, and Nicole, 16 great grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She delighted in her family and we in her, and have so many cherished memories of her to carry with us. We will never forget the joy and the blessings she brought us, our sweet Mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend.
Special thanks to the staff at Country Meadow Village in Sedro Woolley and to the Hospice of the Northwest who all cared for our Mom so lovingly during the last months of her life, and to her beloved church family at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church for their support and prayers. There will be a memorial service for her there in late Spring.
"What is lovely never dies, but passes into other loveliness, Star-dust, or sea-foam, flower or winged air."
Fair thee well, Mother, we will meet again, rejoicing.
