Donnie Land Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donnie Eugene Land, a beloved father and dedicated veteran, who left us on June 27, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on November 6, 1948, in Panama City, Florida, to Vondolph and Joyce Sullivan Land. Donnie was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Valdosta State University where he earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration. He bravely served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, where he served tours in both the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, earning the respect of many and leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. Following his military service, Donnie moved his family to Lafayette County where he served as the director of Emergency Management for 15 years before retiring. He was a licensed pilot rated in twin-engine aircraft, often sharing his passion for flying with friends and family. In his downtime, Donnie enjoyed watching nature and historical television shows, always eager to learn something new about the world around him.
Donnie was preceded in death by; his parents; his wife, Ann Land; and a brother, Bobby Land.
He is survived by; 3 children, Duane Land, and wife Amber, of Herriman, UT, Darren Land, of Naylor, GA, and Deanna Land, of Mayo; 2 siblings, Danny Land, and wife Edna, and Chris Land, of Mayo; 5 grandchildren, Reese, Czarina, Andrew, Adalaide, and Annie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 3, 2025 in Airline Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in the Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Mayo. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Mayo. Friends and family are welcome to join in celebrating Donnie's life and sharing memories. Donnie will be sorely missed but remembered fondly for his kindness, dedication to service, and love for his family.
