Doris WillaMae Griffis, 87 of Macclenny passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Facility. A lifelong Baker-Countian, Doris was born in Taylor on June 8, 1938 to Mr. Paul and Rosie Wilkerson Crews.
Ms. Doris would attend cosmetology school at Lake City Community College and was passionate about hair and makeup. She would also work for the Northeast Florida State Hospital for many years. She enjoyed trips to the beach and loved shopping in her free time. In her later years, she became very involved in the Baker County Republican Women’s Committee. She was a longtime member of Christian Fellowship Temple.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Derek Griffis and David Pendleton; and her husband, Wayne Griffis.
She leaves behind her sons, Clayton (Patsy) Griffis and Skye Griffis; grandchildren, Cari Satterwhite, Klate Griffis, Klint Griffis, Kole Griffis, David Pendleton, and Tyler Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Mackensey, Maddox, Madison, Kayde and Kynlee; as well as a host of extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Christian Fellowship Temple with Rev. David Griffis officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow immediately at Macedonia Cemetery.
The staff of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home is honored to serve the Griffis family during their time of loss.
