Doris Knowles Smith, 88, died Monday, April 22 at the Robin Johnson House.
Born in Gaston County, raised in McAdenville, she was the daughter of the late David Brown Knowles Sr. and Mable Rebecca Moore Knowles. She was a member of the McAdenville Baptist church where she loved to sing in the church choir.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James Benny Smith, as well as her stepmother Lottie Lutz Knowles; two sisters Lois K. Norman and Sue K. Homesley
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, James Alan Smith and a daughter, Susan Smith Kinnamon and husband Daniel Switzer; a sister Martha K. Messer; two brothers Morris Gene Knowles and David B. Knowles, Jr.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2024, at McAdenville Baptist Church in McAdenville.
Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Gardens, Mount Holly.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McAdenville Baptist Church, PO Box 8, McAdenville, NC 28101. Condolence messages for the family may be sent to woodlawnfuneral.org.
