Doris Stanley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 10, 2025.
Doris Ann (Stanbra) Stanley went to her heavenly home after a brief illness on July 7, 2025. Doris was born in a small town in Minnesota on June 11, 1935. Her parents, Harry and Hazel, raised her along with brothers, Bud, Lynn and Lyle (twins), sisters Norma and Norine (twins) and baby sister, Harriet. She was busy with school, church, cheerleading, band and outdoor fun especially in the winter when her Dad turned the backyard into an ice-skating rink.
After high school, she worked for an attorney for a year until she set off for Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas to become a WAF in 1954. Her first assignment was Otis Air Force Base, MA in January 1955. She met her husband, Dan, in the Accounting and Finance office and six months later they married in July 1955. By the time they left Massachusetts, they had Laura, Dan, and Linda. Then, it was off to England where Patricia and Pamela (twins) were born.
Ultimately, Sheppard Air Force Base was their home as the family settled into school and a busy life. Doris was a hardworking, strong and loving Mom. She sewed, cooked, baked, cleaned, helped with homework, drove to sports, Boy and Girl Scouts, tended to our scrapes and bruises and so much more.
Once her nest was empty and Son-in-laws: Tony, Kenneth, Ray and Kenny were welcomed into the family, Doris started nursing school and graduated at the age of 50 and worked until the age of 72. Way to go Mom! A good life lesson it is never too late to try something new.
She was a wonderful loving Grandmom along with their spouses to Ashley (Kevin), Ryan, Shane, Kevin (Alicia), Bryan (fiancée Jayci), and Meredith (Wade). She was blessed to be a great-Grandmom to Kynlie, Natalie, Connor, Julia, Cesar, Julissa, Kaleb, and Darcy.
The most important decision of her life was to accept the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. She and Dan did their best to be a Godly example to their family and friends, to pray for them and read the Bible together every day at the kitchen table. They would stop and pray for strangers everywhere they went and were met with hugs and tears for their kindness.
We love you, Mom.
