ZANESVILLE - Dorothy J. Mann, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2025, in Zanesville, Ohio.
Dorothy was born on December 7, 1931, in Pricetown, Ohio to the late William and Elizabeth (Davies) Goodman.
She graduated from Newton Falls High School, class of 1949. Shortly after high school, she met the love of her life, John Mann, and they were married on February 4, 1951. Family was her greatest treasure, and she delighted in traveling across the country with her husband, visiting 49 of the 50 states together. Dorothy also traveled to her grandparents homeland in Wales, where she reconnected with her heritage. She loved spending time and creating memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
For over five decades, Dorothy and her husband owned and operated Mann's Christmas Tree Farm and Gift Shop. Her entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by her generosity of heart, as she volunteered at Mill Creek Gardens gift shop for six years. Additionally, Dorothy worked at H&R Block for many years and devoted time to teaching Sunday school and Bible school, sharing her faith and wisdom with countless young minds. Dorothy took enormous pride in her contributions to her community, having taught 4H for fifteen years and Blue Birds for six years. She inspired many with her kindness and commitment to nurturing the next generation. She also devoted much of her time to gardening and sewing.
Dorothy was a devoted mother to her daughters Carolyn (Carolyn) Mann of Tiverton, OH, Sandra (Rick) Morrison of New Concord, OH, and Amy (Steve) Kalasky of Jackson Center, PA, as well as to her son John (Kelly) Mann Jr. of Gillett, PA. Her legacy lives on through her three grandchildren, Jill (Ron) Warner, Erica (Shannon) Kimes, Sean (Jennifer) Kalasky, and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind Lauren Dougherty and several nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart.
She is reunited in spirit with her beloved husband, John Mann, and those who preceded her in death, including her grandson, Steven Kalasky Jr., her parents, and her siblings: sisters Mary Clay, Ruth McDowell, Margaret Gibson, and brothers Charles Goodman and George Goodman.
A visitation for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM at the First Federated Church, 10786 Mahoning Ave, North Jackson, OH 44451.
