Douglas "Doug" A. Toms, age 83, of Prudenville, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
Doug was born on April 10, 1942, in Tawas City, Michigan, to Harry and Antoinette (Bellant) Toms. He served in the US Navy. Doug retired from Roscommon County, where he had worked as a Sheriff Deputy for over 25 years. He was married on January 1, 1993, in Houghton Lake to Kay (Bowman) Wyckoff. Doug was a member of the American Legion and the Houghton Lake Eagles. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Detroit LIONS, woodworking, and going camping.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kay Toms of Prudenville, children; Kevin Toms of Texas, Keith (Jackie) Toms of Georgia, Kim Davis of North Carolina and Kris (Dan) Kelly of Houghton Lake, step-children; John (Kathy) Wyckoff of Arizona, and Brian Wyckoff of Houghton Lake, grandchildren; Valerie (Keith) Wicker, Ivan Greathouse, James Toms, Kyle (Jennifer) Toms, Tyler (Nicole) Toms, Alexa (Kyle) Scott, Daniel (Brittany) Davis, Darrell Davis, Deanna (Samantha) Davis, Jacob Niekamp, Taryn Wyckoff, Carter Wyckoff, and Caleb Wyckoff, siblings; Harry (Dottie) Toms, Carole Pavelock, Frannie (Tommy) Tucker and Leo Lorenz. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Thomas Niekamp, and five siblings.
A private family graveside service will be held. Interment will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery, Houghton Lake. Memorial contributions in memory of Doug are asked to be directed to the Thomas Niekamp Scholarship Fund, PO Box 824, Roscommon, MI 48653, at
