Durphy John Blanchard, 74, of Catahoula passed away peacefully on October 11th, 2025, at The Carpenter house of St. Joseph's Hospice with his loving wife by his side.

Durphy was born on July 5th, 1951, in St. Martinville, LA. He spent most of his young adult life helping out in his parents' restaurant, Blanchard's, in New Iberia alongside his eleven siblings. He was married to the love of his life, Louella, for 56 years and the two of them helped raise his youngest brother, Joel. They enjoyed spending most of their time together visiting family and friends. Durphy enjoyed fishing in the Catahoula Lake and grew up with a love of hunting with his siblings. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan whom he shared a love hate relationship with but still never missed watching a game if he could help it. He was often spotted on his front porch enjoying the outdoors with his beloved companion Karma.

He is survived by his wife, Louella Dugas Blanchard; his 5 brothers, James Blanchard (Judy), John Blanchard, Charles Blanchard (Elsie), Joel Blanchard, and Wilton Gary; as well as his brother-in-law's, Lennis Bellot, Paul Simon, and Ronald Daigle; and sister-in-law, Jeanette Blanchard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Malvina Latiolais Blanchard; his 3 sisters, Grace Bellot, Helen Simon, and Margaret Diagle; and his 4 brothers, Willis, Nolan, Allen and his twin brother, Murphy Blanchard.

Durphy will be laid to rest in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula, LA alongside his twin brother and sister. Father Bill Melancon will officiate a graveside blessing of the ashes and will be announced by his wife Louella at a later date.
