Eddie Rippy Obituary

GREENFIELD – Eddie Dean Rippy, age 76, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born in Franklin, Kentucky on February 11, 1949, to Jesse and Bertha Irene (Roalin) Rippy. He graduated from Manual High School in 1967. Mr. Rippy earned his Railroad Electrician Apprenticeship in 1971. He married Nancy (Haynes) Rippy on September 23, 1978. He worked for Navistar International Corporation, formerly known as International Harvester, for over 30 years before retiring in 2003. Ed was a member of Hancock Wellness, a volunteer for the Hancock County Tobacco Free Coalition, and attended Real Life Church in Greenfield. He loved to read, workout, and had a deep appreciation for cars. In his younger years, he enjoyed bicycling, waterskiing, and boating. Ed is survived by his wife, Nancy of Greenfield; children, Mike (Victoria) Rippy, Scott (Jennifer) Rippy, and Jessica (Scott) Kingsbury; five grandchildren, Alexis (Bryan) Kattman, Scott Rippy, Janie, Maddie and Jackson Kingsbury; great grandchildren, Burke Kattman, and one on the way; brother, Jesse Rippy; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Rippy; mother, Irene Rippy; and sisters, Janie Stewart and Patricia Hair. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Caleb Hawkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center, 801 North State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or Hancock Health Foundation, Attn: Hancock County Tobacco Free Coalition, 801 North State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
