Ed was united in marriage to his wife, Dorothea "Dottie" Coffin, on November 17th, 1946, in St. John, Missouri, and together they had three sons. After Dottie's passing, he married Linda Beltz on May 6th, 2006, in Vienna, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie in February of 2005; his parents, Carl T. Martin and Ruth (Edgar) Martin; his brother, Ivan; his sister, Ruthene; his sister, Donna Jean; his granddaughter, Amy in 2007; his great-granddaughter Lexi in 2023, and other relatives and friends.
Ed is survived by his wife, Linda, and his three sons: Edgar "Marty" Carl, Jr. and wife, Kathy; Donald J. "Jeff" and his wife, Susan; and Stephen Lee and his wife, Anita. His twelve surviving grandchildren are Edgar "Eddie" Carl Martin, III, Andrew "Andy" Martin, Joshua Martin, Philip Martin, Hanna Martin, Daniel Martin, EmmaLea (Martin) Smith, Christianne (Martin) Stiles, Elizabeth (Martin) Kirkendall, Stephen Martin, Jedidiah Martin, and Samuel Martin. Ed has loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ since childhood, modeling his faith for his family each day. He graduated from Southwest Baptist College in 1946. He owned and operated Bidco Sealants in St. Louis before moving to his much-loved farm in rural Dixon. While in St. Louis, he and Dottie were faithful members of Webster Groves Baptist Church. Later, he was a faithful member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Vienna. Ed and Linda later attended Kenner Church of God together. He was a consistent member and supporter of Gideons International. He received the Life Service Award from Southwest Baptist University in 1999. Ed experienced great joy in his time on the farm and could often be found in the hayfield or working on projects with his adoring grandkids learning at his side. Known for his patience and kindness, as well as his generous spirit, Ed loved traveling and reading, as well as a good cup of coffee and a tasty dessert. He will be so greatly missed.
