Edith Edna (nee Bruss) Arndt, 92, was called home to heaven on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Edith was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 20, 1932, to the late Elmer and Laura (nee Heuer) Bruss. She graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, in 1954 with a degree in elementary education. She served at St. Paul Lutheran School, Moline, Illinois, Bethel Lutheran School in Menasha, Wisconsin, and Trinity Lutheran School in Brillion, Wisconsin. In all, Edith taught for more than 30 years. She married Kenneth Arndt on August 18, 1957, and their union was blessed with seven children.
Edith was a member of St. Luke Ev. Lutheran Church in Little Chute, Wisconsin where she was a member of the Rachel Circle, served as a VBS and Sunday School teacher, and sang in the choir.
Edith is survived by daughters Debra Arndt, Barbara Arndt, Sandra Arndt of Appleton; Paula (Tim) Phelps of Ann Arbor, Michigan; sons Timothy (Deborah) Arndt of Combined Locks, Wisconsin and William (Joanie) Arndt of Rosemount, Minnesota. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: TJ (Katie) Arndt, Tom Arndt, Mike Arndt, Karen (Wyatt) Henson, Curtiss (Megan) Arndt, Kristin Phelps, Ryan Phelps, Rachel Phelps, Chris (Haley) Arndt, Bethany (Dominic) Olson, Josh (Bethany) Arndt, Ben (Megan) Arndt, Zach (Abby) Arndt, and Malachi Arndt; and 20 great-grandchildren with four more expected this year. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law: Betty Arndt, Marilyn Arndt, and Judy Arndt, all of Menasha; one cousin, Marcia FioRito of Crivitz, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, daughter Lorna, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and John Kohl, sister-in-law Donna Tesch, brothers-in-law Ronald Arndt, Dallas Arndt, and Harold Tesch.
The Christian Funeral Service for Edith will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at St. Luke Ev. Lutheran Church, located at 705 E. Greenfield Drive in Little Chute, with Rev. Ronald Szep and Rev. Robert Balza officiating. Edith will be placed to rest with her husband at Highland Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at the church at 1:00 PM Sunday and continue until the time of the service at 3:00 PM.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the nursing staff from Compassus Hospice, and Edith’s CNA, Savannah. You are all caring angels and we were blessed to have you care for our mom these past months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke Lutheran Church, Fox Valley Lutheran High School Tuition Assistance Fund and the Tuition Assistance Fund at Martin Luther College.
