ST. ALBANS - Edmond Joseph Sears, age 83, passed away on August 5th, 2025, at St. Albans Health and Rehab with Valerie and Randy by his side.
He was born on February 20th, 1942, in Sheldon, VT to the late Edward and Gertrude (Greenwood) Sears.
Edmond married Leah MacBryde on September 26th, 1964, in Enosburg. They were married for 54 years. Leah pre-deceased him on August 20th, 2019.
Edmond had various jobs in his earlier years. He found his calling after getting his GED. He was very proud to become a Correctional Officer at the Northwest State Correctional Facility, retiring in 2002 after 25 years of service.
Edmond loved his family most of all. He had a sense of humor that not everyone thought was funny, but he sure did. He had a passion for fast cars. He rebuilt a 1989 Ford Mustang Fox-body to perfection. He also loved music and playing guitar which he did up until a few months ago. His lifelong friend to the end, Doug Corwell would often stop by to strum a few tunes. His 13-year-old cat, "Kitty" was what kept him going in the last few years. Each time he had to go to rehab, and we didn't think he would go home, he did it for her.
Edmond is survived by his two daughters, Valerie Bourgeois and her husband, Randy of St. Albans, and Cheryl Whitaker and her husband, Keith of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Couture and her husband, Bryan of Enosburg, Brian Tatro and his significant other Shawna Thompson of Custer, KY, Derek Tatro and his wife, Krista of Orange City, FL, Brandon and Blake Steber, Brianna Whitaker of NC, Alison Parkin of Deerfield, NH and Evan Bourgeois of Limerick, ME; 9 great grandchildren; Kaden, Emma, Addyson, Maycee, Ayvah, Kayson, Gabe, Brooklyne & Hailey, two sisters-in-laws; Janice MacBryde and Marilyn Abel, many nieces and nephews who called him, "Uncle Eddie". In addition to his wife and parents, Edmond is pre-deceased by his siblings, Isabelle Stein and her husband, William, and Elizabeth Boudreau and her husband Armond.
Friends and family are invited to Edmond's life celebration to include visitation from 11-12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickenson Ave Grand Ave, Enosburg, VT. Interment will follow in Enosburg Center Cemetery.
For those who wish, contributions in Edmond's memory may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans City, VT 05478.
