Edna Jean Downing (née Trapp) passed away on June 4, 2025, at the age of 83 in Burien, Washington. Born on September 28, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, Edna was a beacon of joy and dependability to all who knew her.
Edna was a graduate of Coachella Valley Union High School and carried her youthful spirit throughout her life. Her personality was marked by a warm, bubbly demeanor, a stubborn streak, and an immense capacity for love. Edna's radiant smile and selfless nature left an indelible impact on her friends and family.
She is survived by her loving son, Aldan (Bud) Conway; grandchildren, Kayla and Troy Conway; and sisters, Donna Fennell and Bonnie Strickhouser. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bonnie Trapp, and her beloved husband, Ronald O. Downing.
A service will be held at a later date, where she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Ron, at Tahoma National Cemetery.
In recognition of Edna's win against breast cancer and her triumphant spirit, contributions may be made in her honor to Susan G. Komen for breast cancer research. Her legacy of love and courage will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
