Michael Gundersen, 71, of West Berlin, passed away on July 14, 2025 after a long health battle. He grew up in Merchantville, NJ as a beloved son of the late Edward and MaryJane Gundersen (nee Mullan). He was a dear brother to MaryBeth Gundersen Anderson, David Gundersen, Christopher Gundersen, and the late Mark Gundersen. He married Elizabeth Gundersen (nee Fox) in 1976, and went on to become an extremely loving and present father to Kaitlyn Gundersen-Thorpe and Torunn Gundersen. His number one priority was family. He never missed a dance recital or a chance to put his kids to bed with a book. He loved his girls (including his dogs) immensely and did everything for them. In 2021, he became a grandfather to Oskar Edward Thorpe, who made him so happy and proud. Throughout his life he loved astronomy, cycling, reading, hiking, camping, and travelling with his family. He loved taking vacations to PEI, Canada and instilling in his kids a love of the outdoors. He loved meeting new people and getting to know them, and never forgot to ask how the family was doing. Even if you were meeting him for the first time, he knew how to make you feel like you've been friends for life. His strong emotional presence will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Michael's home on Saturday, October 18, 2025 beginning at 3:00PM. Arrangements under the direction of the COSTANTINO-PRIMO FUNERAL HOME, 231 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009.
