Edward J. "Butch" Sholders Sr. age 84 years of Gibbstown passed away on Monday June 9, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Paulsboro and was a lifelong Gibbstown resident. Ed was a 1961 graduate of Paulsboro High School. He retired with over 35 years of service as an instrument technician with Mobil Oil Company in Paulsboro. Ed enjoyed playing baseball with the tri county league, bowling on Thursday nights, hunting and growing tomatoes and lima beans in his garden. He regularly attended his grandchildren's sporting events and always had a camera ready to take pictures. Ed also liked to take trips to Lancaster with friends and spending time in Cape May with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Fran Sholders (nee Wilkins) of Gibbstown; his children, Robyn and A.J. Corradetti of Gibbstown, Edward Sholders Jr. of Gibbstown, Steven and Karen Sholders of Bethel, PA; his grandchildren, Anthony (Lia), Alexis, Sarah, Olivia and Ethan and his sister, Gerry Pohlig of Gibbstown. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Viola and Jim McIlvaine, Wilmer Sholders, and his daughter in law, Melissa Sholders.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday June 13, 2025 in the McBride – Foley Funeral Home, 228 West Broad Street, Paulsboro. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday morning after 9:30 AM until service time. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. Memories can be shared at www.mcbridefoleyfh.com.
