Edwin "Ed" Bingham, a beloved man known for his sweet personality and nurturing spirit, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on November 27, 1946, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Ed lived a life filled with love, connections, and a commitment to his country and family.
Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force for three years, participating in the Vietnam War. This chapter of his life was just one aspect of a man whose dedication to service extended well beyond his military years. His interests were varied and gave him joy; he was an avid woodworker, cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, immersed himself in ancestry research, and loved reading history books. A keen photographer, Ed had a knack for capturing moments, leaving behind a visual legacy shared with friends and family.
He is survived by his sons, Grant (Brandi) Bingham of Raymond, Mississippi, and Glenn Bingham of Jay, Florida. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Emerson, Presley, Ethan, and Lexi, who will carry forward his spirit and memories. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews, including Tayne Leonard, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Ed's family members who preceded him in death include his parents, Calvin Waudeen Bingham and Gwendolyn Weeks Bingham, his beloved wife, Charmaine Herbert, and his sister, Jane Alderman.
Visitation for Edwin Bingham will take place at the Chancellor Funeral Home Byram Location in Byram, Mississippi, on July 9, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location starting at 3:00 PM and concluding at 4:00 PM. As friends and family gather to celebrate his life, they will surely reflect on a man whose kindness and warmth touched countless lives.
Edwin Bingham will be deeply missed, remembered as a great father, grandfather, and friend to many. His legacy of love and service will endure in the hearts of those he left behind.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Methodist Children's Home.
