Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral HomeEdwin H. "Eddie" Ireland, age 75, of Red Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Mineral Wells, Texas, Eddie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and faithful member of his community.
A proud patriot, Eddie served honorably in the United States Army from 1967 to 1976. His service included deployments with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam (1967–1968), followed by assignments in Japan, South Korea, and Germany. After completing his military service, Eddie applied his technical skills across various occupations, ultimately retiring as a software technician in 2020.
In 1995, Eddie married the love of his life, Marsha. Together, they created a beautiful, blended family full of laughter, strength, and enduring love. Eddie was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus in Rockne, Texas. He was a man of deep faith, integrity, and quiet strength—always quick to lend a hand or offer words of wisdom.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and beloved sisters Nancy Wester, Paulette Sellers, and Sherry Milligan. He is lovingly remembered by his brother David Cluck and his cherished children: Michelle May, Megan Villagomez, Michael Ireland and his wife Alyssa Ireland, Meredith Gonzales and her husband Theodore Gonzales, and Cody Ireland. He was a proud grandfather, “Papa” to Briana Walton and her husband Devon Walton, Chase McDuffie, Victoria Avitia, Gavin Gonzales, Hayden Gonzales, Little Theodore Gonzales, and Audrina Ireland—each of whom brought joy to his life.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Wong, Dr. Reister, Dr. Traylor, Dr. Kumar, Dr. Lei, and the dedicated teams at St. David’s South Austin Hospital and the Austin VA Clinic for their compassionate care during Eddie’s final days.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 10:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas. Eddie will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial donations to be made to the Headstrong Project, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting veterans’ mental health or Stop Soldier Suicide, a veteran founded and veteran-lead organization that understands the needs of those who struggle with mental health—both causes are deeply meaningful to Eddie and his family.
