Elaine Margaret Anich, age 97, passed away at Birch Haven Senior Living Bears Hollow in Ashland, on March 21, 2025. She was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ashland on November 25, 1927, to Matt and Cecelia (Devich) Anich.
Elaine who was 1 of 7 children and had the following siblings: Thomas Anich, Emil Anich, Edward Anich, Helen Lawrence Broz, Rudolph Anich and Rose Marie Anich-Erickson. She attended St. Agnes school, graduated from Depadua High School in 1945 and received a bachelor's degree in music from Northland College in 1949. Until she graduated from college, she lived at 210 8th Avenue West (now MacArthur Avenue) in Ashland. Elaine was a music teacher and band director her entire career. She taught in the school districts of Tony, Shawano and Menomonie Falls, but mostly in the West Allis-West Milwaukee school district, retiring in 1987. In 2015, she moved from Milwaukee back to her hometown where she resided until her death. Elaine had a deep love for music all her life and was active playing and directing a group that played recorders.
Elaine's parents and siblings all predeceased her.
She is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Anthony (Verna) Lawrence, Daniel (Carolyn) Lawrence, Connie (Robert) Ortez, Milan (Rita) Anich, Mark (Ellen) Anich, Bruce (Betsy) Anich, Matthew (Kathleen) Anich. Stephen (Mary Dunphy) Anich, Ellen (Michael, now deceased) Simon, Phillip Anich, Susan Anich, Barbara (Jan Lee) Anich, John (Ann) Anich, Nina (Michael) Ronning, Mary Daniels, Rebecca (Greg Sayer) Erickson, Nik (Joan) Erickson and Jennifer (Bruce Walton) Erickson and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
A gathering for family and friends begins at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland on Friday, March 28, 2025, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. and interment at St. Agnes Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Mountain Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ashland and Mellen, WI.
