Elaine was born February 22, 1953 in South Pittsburgh, TN to parents, James Thomas and Novella Anderson Mayfield. She was a 1971 graduate of South Pittsburgh High School and had worked as Personnel Manager of Mohawk Carpets for 26 years and later for Isbell Clinic before retiring. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church.
Survivors include husband, Wayne Heard, sons, Brent Long, Denny Long(Trudy), step-son, Rickey Heard(Mandy Santiago), step-daughter, Tonya Heard, grandchildren, Cole Heard, Molly Heard, Drew Heard, Joshua Long, Jenna Long, Oliver Brooks-Long, great-grandchildren, Novella Heard and Finn Heard, sisters, Pam Rogers, Dot Powell(Dick), Phyllis Russell(Gaylen), along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents along with brother, Floyd Mayfield and sister, Myrtle Steele.
