Elaine was born on August 19, 1962, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Joan (Frawley) Grimm. She grew up in Mount Carroll and graduated with the Class of 1980 from Mount Carroll High School. She went on to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating in 1985.
On September 11, 1993, Elaine married Kevin Taylor in her hometown of Mount Carroll. Together they raised three children and celebrated 31 years of marriage filled with love, perseverance, and devotion.
For the past decade, Elaine worked as an Appraisal Specialist for the Illinois Department of Revenue. She was known by her colleagues for her diligence, thoughtfulness, and sharp mind. Beyond her career, Elaine's life was rooted in faith and family. She was a member of the Catholic Church and an active supporter of the Lincoln Land Down Syndrome Society.
Elaine's joy was found in the simple and meaningful parts of life-taking long walks with Kevin, playing pickleball, reading a good book, and most recently, embracing her new role as Grandma to Wyatt. She gave herself fully to those she loved, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Even during her courageous battle with cancer, Elaine remained selfless and strong, never losing her sense of humor, grace, or grit.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Taylor of Springfield; her daughter Emily Taylor (fiancé Jason Young) of Springfield; two sons, Michael Taylor and Ryan Taylor, both of Springfield; and her beloved grandson, Wyatt Young. She is also survived by her sister, Lisa Welborn of Granite City, Illinois, and her brother, Todd Grimm of Springfield, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Joan Grimm.
Elaine's life was a quiet testament to love, integrity and selflessness. She will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, and the deep care she gave to others.
