Elaine Theresa (Devenney) Wedig, 98 passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Oregon Living & Rehab Oregon, IL. Elaine was born November 4, 1926, the daughter of Harold and Mary (Pini) Devenney in Rockford. On April 20, 1946 she married Emery Wedig at Second Congregational Church, Rockford. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2005.
She was a member of the Davis Junction United Methodist Church and Klipper Klub in Davis Junction. She loved to cook, sew, knit, crochet, bowl, dance and play cards. She had worked at several local small restaurants. She was also on a bowling league at Don Carters Lane in Rockford and a member of the Byron Area Seniors. She worked along the side with Emery, helping on the farm. They also took many trips in the U.S and other countries.
In addition to her parents and husband Emery, Elaine is preceded in death by three daughters, Patsy Lee Wedig, Lou Ann Millard, Leah Cruse and her sister Lois Johnson.
Elaine is survived by her daughters: Linda (Ron) Wegner, of Hendersonville, NC and Laurie (Charlie) Bigelow of Davis Junction; 12 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren, with one due in the near future and nephew Ronald (Linda) Johnson of Cherry Valley, IL.
There will be a private family graveside service at Big Mound Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Mellon officiating. Memorial has been established in Elaine’s name Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon, IL.
