Ele Speichert was born on November 10, 1933, to Julius and Martha Neumann in Lithuania. When she was 8 years old the family came to American. Ele attended school in Bridge Water, South Dakota. The family later moved to Omaha. Ele met Walter Speichert at a dance at a German home in the area and they were united in marriage on June 13, 1953, at Cross Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple lived in Omaha until 1999 when they moved to Woodbine, Iowa. Ele worked outside the home at a packing house, Campbell’s soup and then Nagl, where she retired from.
Ele enjoyed crocheting, fishing, camping, gardening, tending chickens and her pet pig and a warm beer. She cherished time spent with family and friends.
Ele died on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Azria Health Rose Vista in Woodbine at the age of 91 years, seven months and 23 days.
Ele was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Willie, Johnny, Lena and an infant sister; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Speichert. She is survived by her five children, Ralph Speichert of Cedar Creek, Nebraska, Suzanne and her husband Rick Briggs of Bellevue, Nebraska, Vern Speichert of Woodbine, Diane and her husband Sam Jacobs of Woodbine and Debbie and her husband Chad Stewart of Logan, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
